***Backstory
Padma was born into a patrol unit. It was all she knew as a child; living, breathing the training, the exercises, the martial arts, she was just as tough and fierce as the rest of them. But she didn't feel content. Yes, she practiced with the other children her age, her brothers and sisters, and learned from unit mentors, but it wasn't fulfilling. She went through the motions of the martial arts without her heart in it, a fact that the parents quickly noticed. They strongly suspected that when she turned twenty and was allowed to seek a new unit, she would change.
She herself did not believe she would-- after all, her unit was all she knew! So when it came time for her to look into it, she did so halfheartedly. Perhaps this is why it took some time before she found her calling. A girl from another unit took her to the Killing Floor. She came out battered and bruised, but hooked. Nothing could have been more intoxicating than those pounding rhythms, the trance of movement, the rush of bodies in constant motion on the dance floor. She couldn't get enough. She realized she had to become a dancer. She couldn't feel complete without it.
She now dances with her new unit, performing for pleasure and for shows on the ship. She loves any kind of dance, but is especially fond of (and good at) stomp and other dances where the rhythm and music is made with the body itself. If she isn't dancing she's practicing drums on a synth set belonging to her new brothers and sisters. If she can't dance or do that, her fingers are drumming out a beat, her toes are tapping, or she's thinking up new choreography.
***Personality
Having been a part of a patrol unit, she's seen the Danava for what they are--people--and it makes her uncomfortable. Since joining her new unit, she has realized that she could never have worked so directly with them as that. She tends to avoid them if she can.
Padma lives for her dance and rhythms; she has had mods made or altered that make her better at it, but also that make her feel it more. She loves the opportunity to share dance with the rest of the ship, and is baffled by how few outside the Sihabahu do so. She often wonders if they feel incomplete without it. Because she performs regularly for others, she has become rather vain, and eats excessively to make up for her activity level.
Padma is a people person, though not exactly a people-pleaser, looking to be with her unit or people outside it as much as possible. She has a bump-and-grind personality: she seems bouncy and playful, but her Sihabahu upbringing is revealed in a gritty, city girl personality. She will say whatever is on her mind, never mind the niceties, but she'll usually manage to smooth it over before someone gets truly insulted.
***Description
Exposed circuitry on her shaved pate are part of her internal network. She has several mods that help her feel more in-tune with music and rhythm, and make dancing more enjoyable. Her hair varies between truly bald and a light fuzz of pale brown, depending on how often she takes care of it. Her deep cinnamon skin is contrasted by her violently green eyes, almond-shaped and thick-lashed. Her brows are straight, as is her nose, making her look hard and impassive. That combined with her eyes give her a piercing gaze that some might find unsettling-- until she smiles.
She has a tattoo and scar pattern on her entire back and soulders, an undulating pattern of intricate lines and weaving that she designed to symbolize a crowd of movement on a dance floor.
Padma is vain enough to eat excessively in compensation for her activity level, so she manages to keep a layer of soft pudge on top of her toned musculature. The appearance is helped by her shortness, at 5'4" it doesn't take as much to keep her soft.
***Mods
Padma's reflexes have been enhanced, with strengthened musculature and bones to boot. She has a set of exciters, an in-skin system that affects her nerves, which she has had programmed to activate in time to music. So, when music is playing, it is enhanced in her body so she literally feels the music all over, even if it isn't sternum-shakingly loud. On a practical note, she has a wrist watch-- an under-skin illumination that tells the time, date, or gives her her appointments depending on command flicks of her fingers.
***Skills
-Rhythm- if there isn't a beat, she'll make one; serves in both dance and drum
-Dance- several variations
-Drum- still learning, but proficient enough to perform
***Goals
-Start a true band (not an after-work get-together band, but one played on the networks)
-Perform at every dance venue on the ship
-Share dance with the ship, and let everyone else know what they're missing
