Backstory:
As a Svatantra, Maayan's family is rather different from the nuclear. Her biological mother, Tapasya Tarana (nee Pandey) is the head of her family, followed closely by the wife she took after Maayan was born, Vahnisvari Pandey (nee Tarana.) Maayan's father is Dev Pandey, a man thought by many in their old school social circle to be one of the luckiest around. Why? Well, to start, both the women he lives with are very, very attractive. Though he is not married to Vahnisvari, he essentially gets all the fun of being her devoted husband anyway. Vahnisvari went unmarried for a while after the normal age where girls chose who they would spend their lives with; all the men still unmarried and around their age were hopeful. Very, very hopeful, as Vahnisvari was, and still is, a great beauty, with night-dark hair and skin and brilliant turquoise eyes, plus a round, womanly figure. One can simply imagine the air of disappointment that hung around the area when Vahnishvari chose Tapasya, an already-married woman with a child! Little Maayan grew up in a very supportive environment, with three parents very interested in her care and keeping. The problem was that although they'd read all the parenting guides, little Maay was quite difficult to say no to. Her early childhood was a rash of tantrums with few calm periods between. When it came time for her schooling to begin, there were many options to consider: did they get her a private tutor? Send her to the Svatantra District school? Or put her in the Temple School, even though they weren't a lower-class family and could easily afford better? Dev, a very smart man who Tapasya had married for his brains, decided on a very unconventional path: they'd put her in the Temple School. A tutor would simply make her worse about attention-craving and tantrums, and she might as well mingle with some of the other families. Off she went, and at first she hated it. Dev calmed many tantrums about how she was never going to go back, ever. Soon, though, she was making friends and gaining the happy-go-lucky personality that has characterized her later years.

Maayan flourished at school. She soon excelled at most of her subjects, though math became a large stumbling point at the age of around 8 that she had to have help from Dev with. At around that same time, she became very interested in fashion. Her clothes were the envy of her classmates, and still are. She has a knack for matching that shows in her entire wardrobe and makes her choices pop. When she was old enough to be allowed out by herself at night, she discovered the clubs. After a first whirlwind visit, they became her night haunt. Maayan loved dancing, and did it whenever she could. It's taken some tolls on her figure, making it quite less attractive by Ralasi standards, but she doesn't care all that much. Overall, Maayan is happy how she is now, and willing to make friends with pretty much anybody.

Personality:
Maayan is a happy and carefree teenager. She likes to solve problems and help her friends, and especially enjoys meeting new people. She's athletic, and especially loves to dance. She can be very snarky at times, and enjoys playing good-natured tricks as long as she knows the other party will enjoy it just as much. She's also just a tad boy-crazy. Maayan, however, does have some issues with how she is seen by the outside world. As she's not small and soft like society dictates, she's often very displeased with how she looks in clothes, and especially hates being compared to Vahnisvari, which invariably happens because they share a last name.

Description:
Maayan is modded quite a bit, though some features of her original self show through. She was born with skin mods and eye mods that make her appear quite feral and catlike. At a young age she decided she wanted pink eyes, as that was her favorite color at the time. She's not so sure she likes them now, and her parents have gotten her color contacts in her birth-color green in case she gets sick of them on certain days, or they don't go with her outfit. Her naturally light reddish brown hair is bleached and toned white. It was recently blue-green, but she decided it was too much of a clash for wearing color. She is tall and thin, with lean muscles all over from climbing the dead tree in the Svatantra district all the way up to the top and dancing until dawn on days off from school. Her clothes are flashy and bright for day, but always match. She's not one to clash colors and thinks seriously about nearly everything she wears.

Her appearance is even more striking when she's out dancing. Blacklight ink runs beneath her skin, lighting up into the specter of a skeleton. She often has little jewelry pieces carrying small doses of hallucinogenics on her--not enough to do much, but enough to work.
